Urban Narratives Workshop Participant Waiver

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. By assigning to the Urban Narratives Workshop 2026 waiver, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms as a condition of participation in the Photography Workshop (“Workshop”) in Malaysia, 2026.
1. Assumption of Risk
– I confirm that I am in good health and physically able to participate in all Workshop activities.
– I understand that the Workshop may involve outdoor environments and travel, and that I and my equipment may be exposed to risks and hazards, both natural and man-made, including but not limited to:
– Uneven terrain, off-road sites, and natural hazards (e.g., cliffs, hazardous footing, busy roadways, dimly lit areas)
– Transportation to and from locations
– Weather conditions, wildlife, and other environmental factors
– I acknowledge that participation may involve risks of serious bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, death, and loss or damage to personal property, including theft or damage to photography equipment.
– I accept and assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, and all responsibility for any losses, costs, or damages I may incur due to my participation.
2. Waiver and Release
– On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless the Workshop organizers, instructors, agents, affiliates, and representatives (“Releasees”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages arising from or related to my participation, including those caused by the negligence or carelessness of the Releasees.
– I agree not to make any claim or commence any legal action against the Releasees for any injury, loss, or damage to person or property, except where prohibited by law.
3. Indemnification
– If I, or anyone on my behalf, claims any of the Releasees, I agree to indemnify and hold each of the Releasees from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost incurred due to such claim.
4. Health, Insurance, and Conduct
– I certify that I have obtained comprehensive travel and health insurance covering personal injury, medical expenses, and equipment loss or damage for the duration of the Workshop.
– I agree to behave respectfully and safely at all times and understand that the organizers reserve the right to dismiss any participant for disruptive or unsafe behavior without refund.
5. Image Rights and Data Protection
– I grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use images taken during the Workshop (including images featuring me) for promotional and educational purposes, with appropriate credit where possible, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
– I understand that my personal data will be collected, used, and stored under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and only for Workshop administration and legal compliance.
6. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
– The laws of Malaysia govern this waiver.
– Any disputes arising from or related to this agreement shall be resolved through amicable negotiation or, if unresolved, by the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia].
7. Severability
– If any portion of this waiver is invalid, the remainder shall continue in full force and effect.
8. Acknowledgment
– I have read and fully understand this Waiver and Release of Liability.
– I sign it freely and voluntarily, intending it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.
